The ability of Marty to type is not something he has learned, or has been taught. It's part of his genetic mapping. The strands of DNA that were altered, matched each other perfectly.
Dr Brockenführ discovered that Marty could type several years ago whilst he was working in his lab. Marty sat at his desk and whilst Dr Brockenführ had his back turned he typed the words "My name is Marty."
At first Dr Brockenführ thought it was a joke by one of the laboratory assistants, but then, right before his eyes, Marty typed "Dr, this is no practical joke...it was me!"

The decision was made there and then to let Marty's existence become public knowledge. "The risk of him gaining access to the Internet and sending an email is too great," declared Dr Brockenführ.
The first thing First Genetics did was to get Marty his own office and computer. Technicians have set up WebCams around the office so people can chat to him via webcasts.
Since discovering Marty's amazing typing and linguistic abilities, Dr Brockenführ has given him an annual subscription to several publications including New Scientist, National Geographic, and his favorite daily read, The Sun.
